Brief Re-animation

It's been nearly two years since I've submitted any pieces or posted a journal entry, and the most recent of both pertained to the then first Victoria Steam Exposition. This last weekend was the 3rd iteration of our local Steampunk event: victoriasteamexpo.blogspot.ca/ . Like the first year, I volunteered this past weekend and enjoyed it as much if not more than the first time. I also attended the 2nd VSE at Craigdarroch Castle last year, which was also awesome although I didn't volunteer. I'm quite happy with how one of my costumes turned out this year, so I posted a photo of it.
I'm still tinkering now and then; I constructed the syringe for the outfit. I'm hoping to get around to posting a photo of it. I've acquired more parts and junk to make things, yet I just haven't really had the time to create anything I feel really proud of. Inspiration comes at funny times, and I don't try to force it.

G'day!
Just a minor update: In case you hadn't noticed I've actually put up a piece of work! My better half will be wearing it tomorrow to the Victoria Steam Exposition here town! For those of you who are coming, see you there! I'll be volunteering both days!

Holy Crape!

I'm not dead yet!
Recently I replaced my vintage computer with a more less obsolete version and forgot to update my favorites and in turn I forgot about dA for a time. But I've cleaned up my messages and what not and am hoping to get something new up sooner or later. Although I am busy with work and hosting a table top RPG on weekends, and it's winter so, ETC ETC ETC more excuses... No promises!
Man, the holidays are in less than two weeks and I haven't done anything for them! So much to do so little time. Season's Greeting to everyone and you'll probably hear from me again in the new year, unless you're very unfortunate! ;D

Mad Science!

Well we're all moved into our new home, which has so much more room to work, play, & live in. And now that moving, unpacking, and everything else is dealt with my time has been freed up. And amazingly, I've been planning and working on projects!
The first of which being a paper towel dispenser out of random parts from my junk box. I think it turned out pretty well. Lots of brass & clock springs. I'm problably going to throw up a photo of it under 'scraps', I'll also try to put up a photo of that pocketwatch stand I made a month or so ago.
I just finished and put up a photo of the"Datatron Bulb", a hollowed-out incandescent lightbulb with a working USB drive inserted into it, on a stand. It took me a couple days of work, and I'm happy with the final result.
I've got a bit of a green streak right now, partially inspired by MAKE #18. I have two green projects planned. The first one is to build a vermicompost bin (worm compost) to use in conjunction with our recyclables to limit our household waste.
The second is tied to the first. Marion and I are going to construct a 4'x 4' gridded vegetable garden on our balcony. Should be fun!
Well, I better start cleaning up the mess I've made and get to my day/night job.
